Frequently Asked Questions About Countertops
Once the cabinets are set and level, we laser-template the countertops in a single visit. Fabrication takes 1 to 2 weeks for quartz and most granite, and 2 to 3 weeks for natural marble or imported slabs. Install day is typically a few hours for a kitchen, and we coordinate the plumber so the sink and faucet are reconnected before we leave.
Quartz is engineered, non-porous, very consistent slab to slab, and the easiest to live with day to day. Granite is natural stone with real movement and pattern — every slab is unique, and it stands up well to heat and prep work once sealed. Marble is the most classic look but the softest of the three, so it shows etching from acidic foods if you do not maintain it. We will walk you through the trade-offs honestly before you commit.
Yes. We remove the old countertop, coordinate the plumber to disconnect the sink and dishwasher beforehand, template the new slab, and bring everyone back on install day to reconnect plumbing and the cooktop. You have one schedule, one point of contact, and one team responsible for the finished result.
Yes. Standard seating overhang is 12 inches with no extra support. Anything more than that needs steel plates or corbels under the slab so the stone is not relying on the cabinet alone to hold weight. We figure this out at template time and adjust the cabinet build if needed.
Seams are unavoidable once a counter run is longer than a typical slab (about 9 to 10 feet). We plan seam locations at template — usually behind the sink or at a cabinet break — so they are tucked away rather than landing in the middle of a prep zone. Quartz seams can be color-matched almost invisibly; granite seams follow the pattern of the stone.
Quartz is the lowest maintenance and usually needs only soap and water with no sealing. Natural stone like granite and marble should be sealed on a regular schedule and wiped up quickly after spills, especially acidic ones on marble. We tell you exactly how your specific material should be cleaned and cared for, and we hand over that guidance when the job is finished.
