Frequently Asked Questions About Kitchen Remodeling
A full kitchen remodel typically runs 8 to 12 weeks of on-site work once demolition begins. Cabinet lead time before construction is the biggest variable, usually 6 to 10 weeks for semi-custom and 10 to 16 weeks for custom. We sequence cabinet ordering so they arrive when we are ready to install, not after.
Layout changes are part of most of our kitchen projects. We move walls, relocate islands, expand openings into dining or family rooms, and reconfigure work zones. If a wall is load-bearing we bring in a structural engineer and install the correct beam so the ceiling stays flat.
Yes, using our licensed plumbers and electricians. Moving a sink, adding an island with power, running a new gas line for a range, and upgrading circuits for induction or double ovens are all routine. All rough-ins are inspected before drywall goes up.
Most clients buy their own appliances so they can take advantage of sales and pick exact models. We provide the final spec sheet with required dimensions, clearances, and rough-in locations well before you order. If you prefer us to source and coordinate delivery, we can do that too.
Full kitchen remodels in Northern Virginia generally run $65,000 to $150,000 for standard footprints, and $150,000 to $300,000 when layout changes, wall removal, or high-end finishes are involved. Cabinetry is usually the largest single cost, followed by countertops and appliances. We provide a line-item estimate so every dollar is accounted for.
The kitchen itself will be out of service from demolition through appliance install, typically 6 to 10 weeks. Most clients set up a temporary kitchen in the dining room, basement, or garage with the old fridge, a microwave, and a hot plate. We help you plan that setup before demo day so you are not scrambling.
